- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the grated apples and walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool.
- For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cake. Slice and serve.
Notes
