Description

A low-carb, high-flavor twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak—ground beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and melty cheese all baked into a satisfying casserole under 5g net carbs per serving.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1½ cups shredded provolone (or mozzarella)
  • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high, cook ground beef until browned, about 6–8 minutes; drain excess fat if desired.
  3. Add bell peppers, onion, and mushrooms; sauté 5–7 minutes until tender and slightly charred. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Transfer mixture to an 8×8 (or 9×9) baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle shredded provolone over top.
  6. Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  7. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes
