Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 6 cups Regular marshmallows
- 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Red food coloring (as needed)
Instructions
- Fill a saucepan with ½ cup water and bring to a gentle boil. Place a heatproof bowl over it to create a bain-marie.
- Add the butter and marshmallows to the bowl and whisk until melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in salt and 2–3 drops of red food coloring.
- Quickly pour the marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispies and mix until evenly coated.
- Oil your hands and shape the mixture into oval “brains.”
- Use a butter knife to make a center groove and a toothpick dipped in red food coloring to draw vein-like patterns.
Notes
To enhance the creepiness, try adding edible eyes or drizzle with more red food coloring before serving. Great as a Halloween craft project with kids!
