Description

A fun and delicious twist on the classic Monte Cristo sandwich, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 slices of turkey or ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for frying
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Raspberry or strawberry jam (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Flatten the bread slices using a rolling pin.
  2. Place one slice of turkey or ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on each slice of bread. Roll the bread tightly around the filling.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each rolled bread in the egg mixture, ensuring they are coated well.
  5. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Fry the roll-ups until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Remove from the skillet and dust with powdered sugar. Serve with raspberry or strawberry jam.

Notes

Use soft bread for easy rolling. For extra flavor, try adding a slice of cheese with a stronger taste, like cheddar.
