Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
- 12 thin slices of salami
- 6 black olives, sliced in half
- 2 tablespoons pesto or cream cheese (optional for extra flavor)
- Red food coloring or roasted red pepper strips (for veins)
- Toothpicks or party skewers
Instructions
- Drain the mozzarella balls and pat dry with paper towels.
- Optional: Cut a small slit in each mozzarella ball and fill with a dab of pesto or cream cheese.
- Wrap each mozzarella ball with a slice of salami, leaving the top slightly exposed like an eyeball.
- Place a halved black olive on the top center to form the “pupil.”
- Add “veins” by drawing with red food coloring using a toothpick or placing thin strips of roasted red pepper around the cheese.
- Secure each eyeball with a toothpick or party skewer.
- Arrange on a platter and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
These can be made ahead and chilled before serving. Use different meats or fillings for variety, and play with the decoration for maximum spooky effect.
