Description
Soft Christmas Peppermints are an old-fashioned holiday treat with a creamy texture and minty flavor. Easy to customize and perfect for gifting or festive dessert trays.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- Gel food coloring (red, green, or your choice)
- Granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Mix in peppermint extract and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust extract if desired.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time. Once too stiff to mix, knead by hand until smooth and pliable.
- Divide dough and tint each portion with gel food coloring. Knead until color is evenly mixed.
- Roll dough into ½-inch ropes and cut into small bite-sized pieces. Optionally, roll into balls and flatten with a fork or mold into shapes.
- Roll each piece in granulated sugar and place on a parchment-lined tray.
- Let mints air dry uncovered for 12–24 hours until firm outside and soft inside.
Notes
To avoid sticky dough, add more powdered sugar during kneading. These mints are great for gifting in jars or adding to dessert platters.
