Description

The Best Apple Crisp is a classic dessert that’s easy to make, filled with tender apples and topped with a buttery, cinnamon-spiced crumble. It’s the perfect sweet and crunchy treat for any time of year—especially when served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups fresh apples (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a deep dish pie plate or large baking dish with butter or cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with the sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix everything until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is well coated and crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the fruit is soft and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Allow it to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

Use a combination of apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for a balanced flavor. Add a drizzle of caramel or chopped nuts for extra richness.
