- 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 2 cups mini pretzels
- 1 cup sliced almonds
- 1 cup butter (unsalted)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- Optional: sea salt flakes for topping
- Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or candy-coated chocolates
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine Chex cereal, pretzels, and almonds. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it starts to boil.
- Let it boil for 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in baking soda. The mixture will foam up.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the cereal mix and gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
- Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
- Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes for even toasting.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with sea salt if using, and let cool completely.
- Once cool, break into chunks and add chocolate chips or candies if desired.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Try using a mix of cereals or different add-ins like sunflower seeds or dried fruit for variation.
